Autumn

This week the autumn has taken hold of Gothenburg with cold mornings with both rain and wind. I don't mind the autumn with dark mornings and evenings, for me that's something I enjoy and it feels a bit mystical and cozy. Strange right? The only thing I don't fancy with autumn are when the temperature hits below 0 degrees C. This morning when I started the morning route it was -3 degrees C and the car I drove wasn't preheated so I ended up driving to Älvängen with my private cloves on because the wheel was really cold:-( Our work cloves are to thin and not practical cause the postboxes are still wet from the night freeze in the mornings. It's easier to wipe of the water on my clothes than have a clove on that gets wet and cold. The autumns here in Sweden is a colorful explosion even if it's a bit sad that the trees' loses their leafs, we have green, yellow, red leafs blowing around in the wind and leaving it's print on the ground telling us that the winter is slowly making it's way in to our lives. A certain sign that the winter is soon upon us is that a lot of car owners are changing to winter tires with or without studs. In my opinion I think that studded tires are more safe then tires without especially if you have a layer with ice on the road. On the work car which I drove today has been given tires without studs which makes the tires spin on the small patches of ice that hasn't melted away by the sun. It's really fun stoping to deliver mail in a box only to discover ice under the tires hearing it cracks when I put some power through the tires:) I can't wait to when the snow and ice is on the ground so I can not drive like a mad man but to do some handbrake turns which is standard do be able to do in the winter in case of an emergency or turn on the spot using the reverse gear, also a valuable skill to know. Every winter I long til the summer when all the snow and ice is gone but in summer I can't wait til it's back, it's weird I know:) This year the change to autumn has been rather quick, I don't mean all the rain we which have pored downt the last month, I'm not that pleased with having rainy weather. Last week, we still had like at least around 5 degree C in the mornings and just a few days later we have below zero. I can can compare Gothenburg where I live and Nol where work is and it feels that Nol is a lot colder, it might have something to do with me sittin on the bus for an half hour between Nils Ericson bus terminal and Nol or maybe because Nol is located in a valley where Göta Älv is. Even if the cold is doing it's best to take over I still like the autumn a lot.
