I had made plans to go back to my studies this term at University of Gothenburg, I got my admissions papers and everything looked fine, so I thought. The only thing was that the university had removed me from a course that according to them I had already been a student on which means I can't take the course again. The fun part is that I have been on a study break for the last year so there's no way I could had been registered as they claim. The start of the term was on a Thursday and I went down to the school only to discovered that the student guidance office where closed for the week and the only way to get a hold off them were via e-mail, I went home and sent an e-mail about my predicament it took them almost two full workdays before they replied. In my book that's not okay. Due too a hectic schedule in the beginning of the course I realized that I had no way of catching up down the road.
I took Tuesday off and went down to the drop in appointments at the student guidance counsellors (who has their office at Pedagogen) to figure this out. The one I talked is someone I have talked to before and she always want the best solution for the student. We looked on what had happened and she couldn't understand how I could have been registered on a course that I hadn't participated in. The other thing is that you as a student don't have the ability to check which your next course are due to that the university sends in the application for the next course.
It works like this, you choose your the courses on the web either on your first or second term depending which term you started your education. The school sends the course that you put up on a certain terms to the admissions office, the admissions office sends you a copy where you accept or decline the offer to the course, then after sending in your answer you get another letter with their decision which tells you are accepted in or not.
Me and the guidance counsellor talked about different solutions to find the one that would fit me and we came up with that I take a term where I need to be registered on courses where I have exams left, that you can do. After been thinking for a couple of days I believe that's the right decision for me and where I'm at. I'm happy it got resolved and I can relax, that's really nice.
